Data deletion

1. How to request deletion

Email hello@basecourse.io with the subject "Data deletion request". Tell us which business or system your data relates to, for example the company you dealt with, and the phone number or email address you used. You do not need an account and there is no form to fill in.

We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else's data.

2. What gets deleted

Unless you ask for less, a deletion request covers the personal data we hold about you. Who decides on the deletion depends on whose data it is.

Data that is ours to delete

Enquiries and correspondence you sent to Basecourse directly, with the contact details that came with them. We delete this ourselves, within the time in section 4.

Data we hold for a client business

This is deleted on that business's instruction, as section 3 explains. It covers:

• WhatsApp messaging data: your phone number, name and WhatsApp profile name, the content of messages and any media attached, and their delivery and read status.
• Account data in the client's system: your name, email address, role and sign-in records.

3. Data held for a client business

Most of the data we handle belongs to a client business that uses software or WhatsApp messaging we built for it. That business decides what happens to its data. When your request concerns such a system, we pass it to that business without delay and delete on its instructions. You may find it faster to contact that business directly.

A client business can disconnect its WhatsApp Business Account from Basecourse at any time in its Meta business settings, and can ask us to delete all the data we hold for it.

4. How long it takes

We respond within 30 days. Where the data is ours to delete, it is removed from the systems we operate within that time, and from our backups as they roll over in their normal rotation.

5. What we cannot delete

• Copies a client business holds on its own devices or accounts.
• Data held by WhatsApp itself, which is governed by Meta's policies.
• Records we are required to keep by tax or contract law, which we keep only for as long as that law requires.
